The Scottish Registrar Generalís amending regulation to registrars banned the use of the term 'illegitimate' in column 1 of the birth and death registers (effective from 1919).

Saturday 19th December 1942
A fire gutted the Office of Works store at Hayes in Middlesex, England. The whole of the UK 1931 Census records, including the schedules and enumeration books, were completely destroyed.

Friday 19th December 2014
The London Civil Probate Search Rooms were closed and their probate indexes replaced by a new but very severely restricted on-line index.
