THOMAS GOODERSON OF MARHAM, NORFOLK – 1903

 
 

I THOMAS GOODERSON of Marham in the County of Norfolk Innkeeper do declare this to be my last Will and testament hereby revoking all other wills and testamentary dispositions by me at any time heretofore made Whereas I have five children now alive all children of myself and my late wife but my eldest son William Hewing Gooderson was born before the marriage of myself and my late wife Now I declare that my said son is to rank and take under this my Will along with his brothers and sisters as if he were legitimate I appoint my said son William Hewing Gooderson and Henry Carter of Marham aforesaid Wheelwright and Coachbuilder to be the EXECUTORS and trustees of this my Will I empower and direct my said Executors or the survivor or the executors or administrators of the survivor to sell and convey all my real estate and to give receipts for the purchase money I give devise and bequeath all my real and personal estate and all other property over which I have any power of disposal to my said executors and trustees and their heirs executors and administrators respectively Upon trust to sell get in and convert the same into money as soon as conveniently may be after my decease And I direct them to hold the produce to arise from the sale and conversion of my said real and personal estate Upon trust to divide the same equally between my five children the said William Hewing Gooderson Ann the wife of George King Thomas Gooderson Harriet the wife of John Mumford and John Gooderson in equal shares save as hereinafter mentioned as tenants in common But in case any of them shall die in my lifetime then I direct the share of the child so dying shall go to the persons and in the shares in which it would have gone and been distributed if he or she had survived me and then died immediately thereafter And I direct my Executors to pay out of my estate before proceeding to division thereof all legacy and probate duties and all other Government duties payable by my said legatees and after paying legacy duty then my executors shall divide the net produce of my estate remaining equally among my legatees so that each legatee shall have an equal or rateable share of my net residuary estate remaining after payment of duties and so that my eldest son shall have the same net share as his brothers and sisters IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto set my hand by making my mark this twelfth day of September one thousand eight hundred and ninety two -–THOMAS his X mark GOODERSON – SIGNED and declared by the said Thomas Gooderson the testator as and for his last Will and testament by making his mark hereto (the same having been first read over to him in our presence when he seemed perfectly to understand the same) in the presence of both of us together who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses hereto – W G WINEARLS Solicitor Swaffham – JOHN BARBER Clerk to Mr W G Winearls

 

ON the 8th day of September 1903 Probate of this Will was granted to William Hewing Gooderson one of the Executors.
